Aloha!
Due to my heavy clinic schedule requiring me to travel worldwide, I do not have any "official" camps scheduled in Kona in 2010.
Instead, I suggest you set up your own personal "mini -camp" where I work with you, or a small group, in a series of private or semi-private sessions in the ocean, my Endless Pool and/or the local pool (for turns, backstroke and pace work). The cost of a custom mini-camp ends up about the same as a regular camp, but the benefit is that you get to do what you want, where you want and most importantly...when you want!
Via email or phone we can discuss your needs, then create a plan for the amount of time you have available. For our first session I suggest we start in the Endless Pool since the instant feedback provided by the mirrors and videotaping is invaluable. After that we meet as often as you like, but keep in mind I prefer to give you days off in between our sessions so you can practice what you have learned. I am also flexible and we can modify as we go along. I want you to enjoy your stay here on the Big Island of Hawaii, so please allow plenty of time just to "chill" out or explore.
To get started, first check the YEARLY CALENDAR to make sure I am home in Kona, then send me an email at aquaticedge@hawaii.rr.com.
Mahalo and I look forward to hearing from you! Karlyn
Below are some of the options you can choose from at a variety of locations in and around Kona. Pick and choose what interests you:
Endless Pool technique session. SEE yourself swim, while you swim, while we video you! Get instant feedback from the two mirrors in the pool allowing you to make changes quickly. The Endless Pool is at my home, so I am very flexible with times.
Kona Pool: We have a beautiful, FREE, 50m x 25 yard aquatic complex right near Kailua Bay and the old airport. The address is 75-5530 Kuakini Hwy, Hawaii, HI 96740. At the Kona pool we can work on all the competitive strokes, starts, turns and we may even go off the diving board a time or two. Coached workouts are also available to work on pacing and training.
Open Water mini-clinics and swims: I take you out on the Ironman course in Kailua Bay or meet up at Kealakekua Bay (down south about 30 minutes). The OW clinic with feature suggestions and information that you can use in ANY open water event such as: mental preparation, breathing, start position, how/where/when to warm up, sighting, drafting, race strategies and much more!
"Pick my brains" discussions on nutrition, post exercise recovery, training and racing strategies, workout planning and any other topic you might find interesting.
